Making Connections : Susanne Lahusen

  • The Yoga Studio 53-57 Rodney Road Cheltenham, England, GL50 United Kingdom (map)

A vinyasa flow class that is sequenced to be equally in touch with what is going on within us, and with how our senses are connecting us with our environment. Our stability improves when our spatial sense becomes clearer, and when our connection to the ground can be found more easily whatever the position. Yoga initially helps us to fine- tune our senses, but ultimately yoga is not so much a retreat but a way of being fully present in our everyday actions.

About Susanne - Susanne’s early yoga background was in Astanga Vinyasa yoga, which she began to practise in 1991 with the late Derek Ireland. Other important influences and certifications include the release based work of Vanda Scaravelli, various somatic practices, degrees in dance and sports science, Pilates, and the rhythmic and energetic qualities of gyrokinesis and dance. She teaches vinyasa flow at The Life Centre, somatics at London Contemporary School of Dance, as well as experiential anatomy and sequencing on the Yogacampus Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy courses. Whilst respecting the unique characteristics of these disciplines, Susanne’s approach to teaching has evolved from an awareness of the elements that are fundamental to all movement.
