Meditation for Beginners
6 week course starting 11th January 2019
Meditation is a great way to find some stillness, focus and peace of mind.
Often we feel as though we go about our days as if we’re running a race, with a busy head full of things to do and sort.
This is a six week course because it takes time and regular practice to feel the benefits, which include helping with anxiety and depression, reconnecting you with your life, helping you to find your place in the world and treat yourself kindly.
This course is for complete beginners or those that have concluded that “I can’t meditate and that’s that”.
This is a great opportunity to find out what benefits meditation can have for you and a great start to your new year plans.
Each session will include discussion interspersed with short practice sections.
You can sit on a stool or the floor, whichever you’d find more comfortable.
Each session will be standalone but over the 6 week course we’ll build up a bigger picture.
We'll offer a range of ways to support your practice between sessions, using guided meditations and other resources.
OUTLINE OF EACH WEEK:
WEEK 1 : Introduction, basic mindfulness instructions, mindfulness as an approach to difficulties.
WEEK 2 : Mindfulness of body, using body to work with difficult emotions.
WEEK 3 : Open-hearted relationships, gratitude and forgiveness.
WEEK 4 : Who am I? Roles, self-concepts, liberating ways of looking.
WEEK 5 : Focus, stability and inner well-being.
WEEK 6 : Time pressure, timelessness, just being and acceptance.
Fridays at 11.15am (45 mins)
Jan 11th, 18th, 25th. Feb 1st, 8th and 15th.
The Yoga Studio, Rodney Road.
£50 for the 6 week course, including access to recorded meditations to use at home.
